Jürg Schäppi is the Chairman and a founding Partner of 2Xideas. He is also a founding partner and principal shareholder of Bellevue Group. He managed Bank am Bellevue, the brokerage and corporate finance division of Bellevue Group, as CEO from 2000 to 2010. Previously, Jürg was employed as an investment banker by S.G. Warburg (now UBS) in Geneva as well as Julius Baer and Citicorp (now Citigroup) in Zurich. Since 1998 he has been active as an investor and independent director on the boards of several hedge funds.
Jürg holds a Master's degree in Economics (lic. oec.) from the University of St. Gallen and a BA in Economics from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.
Dr. Roger Meister is the CEO and a founding Partner of 2Xideas. From 2008 to 2012, he served as CFO of a next-generation battery company, managing several legal entities in Europe and the US. Roger started his career at Bank am Bellevue as a sell-side equity analyst focusing on listed technology stocks. Concurrently, Roger built up an in-house venture capital fund for Bellevue Group and served on the boards of several portfolio companies.
Roger holds a PhD in Behavioral Finance and a Master’s degree in Information and Technology Management from the University of St. Gallen. He is also a CFA® charterholder.
Michael Stutz joined 2Xideas as Chief Investment Officer and Partner in September 2014. He worked as portfolio manager and eventually as head of portfolio management at a Switzerland-based multi-family office from 2008 to 2014, managing public and private investments, while also serving on the board of a private portfolio company. Michael started his career in private wealth management as a portfolio manager in 2005. He has been involved in the setup and management of a number of investment fund structures.
Michael holds a BA in Business Administration from the University of St. Gallen. He is also a CFA® and CAIA® charterholder.
Stephan Welti joined 2Xideas as Chief Operating Officer and Partner in September 2020. Previously, he was on the management team of Sygnum Bank, where he led the regulatory process to obtain the first-ever banking licence for a digital asset bank. From 2015 to 2018, he ran the Regulatory, Compliance & Legal FSI division of Deloitte Switzerland, including FINMA mandates. He also founded and led a management consulting firm during that time. From 2009 to 2015, he served on the Executive Committee of a leading Swiss private bank as Chief Risk Officer & General Counsel. Stephan started his career at an international business law firm.
Stephan holds a Master's in Law from the University of St. Gallen and a LL.M. in International Business Law (CAS) from the University of Zurich. He has participated in a number of expert groups, and has lectured on private and business law at the University of St. Gallen.
Philipp Wesner joined 2Xideas as Chief Technology Officer in August 2020 and was made a Partner in the firm in 2022. He founded a software company in 2000 and from 2012 to 2016 worked as Managing Director at the Frankfurt-based “form Design Magazine”. From 2016 to 2020, Philipp worked at Swiss cloud provider Young Solutions AG, initially as Head of Software Development before being appointed CTO in 2018.
Philipp holds a Diplom in Business Mathematics (Dipl. Math Oec.) from KU Eichstätt-Ingolstadt.
Henrik Munk-Nielsen is Deputy CIO and a founding Partner of 2Xideas. Previously, he worked as Deputy Head of European equities at British Airways Pensions from 1999 to 2012, managing direct investments in public equities across Europe and Russia. Henrik started his career at Prudential Insurance Company of America in London in 1994, helping manage a European small and mid cap fund until 1999.
Henrik holds a BA (Hons) in Business Studies jointly from Midtjysk Handelshøjskole in Denmark and Glasgow Caledonian University in Scotland. He is also a CFA® charterholder.
Raffaella Semedo joined 2Xideas as Sales Director in September 2017, was appointed Head of Sustainability in February 2021, and was made a Partner in the firm in 2022. Previously, Raffaella worked as marketing and investor relations director of an investment company specializing in the alternative energy sector. From 2009 to 2013 she worked in the marketing and sales department at Swiss Finance & Property Group, one of Switzerland’s biggest independent real estate managers. Raffaella started her career in publishing/public relations.
Raffaella is a Certified ESG Analyst (CESGA®) and holds an Associate degree from the Ecôle Hôtelière de Lausanne.
Stephanie Scherrer joined 2Xideas as Head of Behavioral Analytics in October 2022. Previously, she worked as Risk Profiler and later Chief Personnel Security Investigation for the Swiss Department of Defense, conducting risk analysis on people recruited to serve and serving in the Swiss army. From 2020 on, she was a member of the Executive Committee of the Special Service. Stephanie started her career with Globalance Bank AG as CRM manager.
Stephanie holds a Master of Science in Psychology from the University of Zurich and an Executive Master’s in Business Administration from the University of St. Gallen.
Andreas Apitz joined 2Xideas as Sales Director in April 2021, and was made a Partner in the firm in 2022. Over the last 15 years Andreas has been the co-founder and partner of ISPartners Investment Solutions, a Zurich based firm, that specializes in incubating, shaping and structuring both new and emerging fund managers as well as providing investors with access to high-quality investment opportunities. In his role as Head of Sales at 2Xideas, Andreas has built a broad network of private and institutional investors throughout German-speaking Europe. Previously, Andreas worked with Lehman Brothers in London in various equity trading and prime brokerage functions, eventually being appointed director and head of Delta One trading.
Andreas has a background in economics with a specialization in equity and derivative trading. He holds a Master’s degree from Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München.
Peter von Moos joined 2Xideas as a Sales Director in September 2018. Previously, he spent eight years at Credit Suisse's International Trading Solutions desk in Zurich, advising clients on tactical equity positioning with a focus on US equities. He serviced large wealth management accounts ranging from ultra-high net worth individuals to family offices and asset managers. Peter started his career in 2006 as a buy-side equity analyst covering insurance stocks for Credit Suisse Private Bank.
He holds an MA in Accounting and Finance from the University of St. Gallen and is a CFA® charterholder.
Pedro Guerra joined 2Xideas as a Sales Director in June 2018. Previously, he was the CFO and a principal shareholder in ResearchPool, a digital platform to discover and purchase investment research. From 2001 to 2017 , Pedro worked at Banco BPI, managing virtual portfolios for institutional investors as well as relationships with institutional clients in France. He served as the country manager for over five years, hiring and managing a team of sell-side equity analysts and salespeople.
Pedro holds a Master's degree in Economics from Porto University and completed the Advanced Management Program at INSEAD. He is also a CFA® charterholder.
Anastasios Tafakis joined 2Xideas as Head of Trading in August 2019. From 2014 to 2019, he managed a long/short equity strategy for a Switzerland-based family office. Anastasios started his financial career in the wealth management division of Merrill Lynch in London and later worked as an investment advisor at Valartis Bank before becoming a portfolio manager at a Switzerland-based multi-family office.
Anastasios holds an MSc in Economics from the University of Bath, UK,and a BA (Hons) in Business Economics & Finance from London Metropolitan University. He is also a CFA® charterholder.
Elmar Meyer is the founder and CEO of Lexpert Partners AG, which acts as 2Xideas’ outsourced Risk & Compliance Office. Elmar's specialties include advising Swiss and foreign banks, asset managers, and family offices in all legal and regulatory areas. Prior to founding Lexpert Partners, Elmar was a founding partner of GHM Partners, a legal and tax advisory firm in Zug. Previously, he headed the legal and compliance department of Bank Julius Baer in Dubai, and served on the board of Julius Baer in Cairo. Elmar is also a board member of a number of major asset management companies in Switzerland.
Elmar is a Swiss attorney and holds a Master’s in Law from the University of Fribourg, and an LL.M. from the University of Stockholm.
Marco Maranta joined 2Xideas as Head of Accounting and Controlling in October 2022. Marco worked previously in a family-owned multinational industrial company as CFO. The company was producing material flow systems in production for the automotive industry and their Tier 1 and 2 Suppliers. Before that he worked as an advisor for the implementation of an ERP solution, where he was responsible for the processes regarding accounting and finance, and as an auditor at Deloitte & Touche where he was involved in audits in various industries and service providers.
Marco holds a Master’s in Business Administration from the University of Zurich.
Ayup Said joined 2Xideas as Financial Controller in November 2020. From 2014 to 2020, he held various positions at PricewaterhouseCoopers AG, having started his career as an auditor in the financial services sector. Ayup held joint responsibility for the monthly and yearly closing of PwC Switzerland’s groupwide accounting, and led and implemented the internal project controlling. He was also and was responsible for internal controls at PwC Switzerland.
Ayup holds a Bachelor’s in Business Administration with a specialization in Banking and Finance from Zurich University of Applied Sciences in Winterthur.
Andrew DeBoo joined 2Xideas in October 2019. He had earlier worked as a sustainability analyst in private banking with Bank Sarasin, as an editor/supervisory analyst at UBS Wealth Management, and as an investment writer with Vontobel Asset Management.
Andrew was a graduate fellow in Philosophy at Emory University in the US, and completed a degree in Chemical Engineering at the Fachhochschule Aachen in Germany.
Marco Frei has been 2Xideas’ Vice-Chairman since March 2016. He is also an independent pension fund advisor and trustee. From 2005 to 2011, Marco was head of group pension asset management at Roche Group in Basel. He joined Roche in 1987 in the treasury department, where he worked as an asset and financial risk manager before being appointed head of group risk management. Marco started his career at Swiss Bank Corporation (now UBS) as a portfolio manager and advisor to private and institutional clients.
Marco holds a Swiss banking diploma from the Handelsschule KV in Basel, and attended regular management seminars at Roche Group. In 2011, he spent three months at the London School of Economics to study the Great Depression of 1929–37.
David Loggia has been a Board member at 2Xideas since March 2016. He also serves on the board of CLC Asia and manages his private investment company, Loto Holdings. As a fund manager at Carmignac Gestion from 2003 to 2010, David was in charge of European equities. He became a partner in 2005 and served on its board of directors from 2011 to 2014. David started his career in 1999 as an equity analyst at Bankers Trust Funds Management in Sydney, Australia.
David holds a Bachelor’s in Economics (Hons) from Monash University in Melbourne. He completed the CFA program in 2004.
Marianne Fassbind has served on the 2Xideas Board since December 2021. She is also Partner of Dynamics Group, a strategic communication firm. Marianne’s areas of expertise are strategic communications for companies and pension plans, reputation and crisis management, investor relationships, handling electronic and print media, and public affairs especially for pension funds and capital markets. She has reported and commented on the Swiss economy and foreign business affairs for over 25 years. As a member of investment committees and as a board member of pension funds, the pensions market also belongs to her core competencies. Thanks to her former position as finance director of the city of Rapperswil, Switzerland, she is also familiar with the nature of Swiss politics and government.
Marianne Fassbind holds a Master’s in Business Administration and Economics from the University of Zurich (lic. oec.publ.).
